I didn't try tatting because the tools n the materials cost like hell.. I'd love to learn how to do it though because the products r beautiful. n this you do this one with the bobbin? I want to learn how to do It too but unfortunately no one know about that technique
yeah, I know something about costs... don't ask how much did I spend on threads last month! and no, as I wrote above, it's dentelle de bruges, it was invented by poor women who couldn't afford bobbin (or so it says in this book I read). you use standard crochet-hook to form the ribbon instead of countless bobbins and the effect, though not the same, is pretty close
oh so I can use crochet hook to make that woo hoo my dream came back xD xD xD so can you tell me how to do it, pleassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssse, I'll love you forever xD, I love to made lace but the only think I know is crochet n almost all the pretty lace i saw was tatted or bobbin. I have flied to heaven n felt down to hell so many time yesterday, when I saw ur lace I thought I can crochet it but then I found the bobbin thing n I thought I can't crochet it x( n now I know that I can crochet it..wow..that's cool xD...
there are two types of these: bobbin lace and bruges lace. bobbin lace (also called pillow lace) requires a pillow and a set of bobbins (you can read more here: [link]). it was, as I heard, a technique in which more wealthy women mastered so those less afluent needed to come with a substitute which is BRUGES LACE - similar effect done with crochet [link] <- some basic information [link] <- a thread with patterns and try googling "bruges lace"

As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
